Tour Overview
Designed by the award-winning French architect Jean Nouvel, Louvre Abu Dhabi is an impressive spectacle on water that combines classic art with magnificent architecture. Louvre Abu Dhabi is the first universal museum on the Arabian Peninsula. As its name suggests, it is a collaborative effort between the Abu Dhabi and French governments to construct the Louvre Museum Abu Dhabi with loans from legendary museums such as the Louvre, the Orsay, and the Pompidou.
A vast collection of objects depict ancient as well as contemporary artistic expressions is displayed at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, which spans over 65,000 square feet in the Saadiyat Cultural District. During your visit, you will take a journey through four distinct periods, from archeology to the birth of Islam to the classical era to the modern era, with exhibits presented chronologically. The museum has 20,000 square feet of temporary exhibition space, including a section for kids.
In addition to fascinating displays, Louvre Abu Dhabi is known for its intricate and multi-layered geometric lace dome, enhanced by thousands of star-shaped cladding patterns. A combination of traditional Falaj water systems and interwoven palm leaves, this structure provides elegant perforations, resulting in a stunning contrast between sunlight and shade, making for some cool Instagram shots.
